This is the Timeline from Conception to
Finish on our Special Film
* Oct 21, 2004,Basic Idea for the
Script
* Oct 25-29, As I drive from Los
Angeles To Toronto, most ideas are recorded on a voice
recorder.
* October 27 (on the drive to
Toronto) I stop by Las Vegas and pick up a Panasonic DVX 100
from an animator who had no use for it.
* September 6, 2004, Script is
complete and polished
September 8, 2004-Bought 3, 500
watt lights with stands, and 2 umbrella reflectors, and a
professional tripod with a fluid head (total cost, about
$400 USD)
* September 10, 2004 -First
Audtions are held in Toronto for lead parts in the film.
September 12, 2004-Built a decent
camera dolly out of an old plank, 4 children's skateboards,
PVC pipe, and a metal pole from Home Depot. (in preparation
for our big shoot)
* September 18, 2004 -The first
day of filming. Jerry Cabral (my good friend from
highschool) would be my first camera operator. We shot
part of the opening sequence of the film which involved
myself getting out of bed and setting off to work.
Being extremely picky as it was my first day directing and
setting up all the lighting and shots, about 6 hours of
footage came to about 50 seconds in the film. But it
was well worth it.
March 10, 2005 Most of the filming
and editing is complete. I had been working on
this film 16-20 hours every single day, 7 days a week since
the first day of filming. My body could not take it
anymore that even sitting for such long periods of time was
putting a strain on my back. I moved my Mac into our
bedroom (the wife wasn't too happy about this) and set up my
8 hard drives under our bed. This way, I could
continue editing without worries of more back pain. On
quite a few occasions, the 16-20 hour editing day wasn't
enough and I would work well into the following day. I
don't recommend this to anyone, but it just seemed like I
would never finish the film the way I wanted to.
June 17, 2005 2nd Screeing at
Bloor Cinema
June 19, 2005 3rd Screeing at
Royal Cinema in Toronto's Little Italy District. (a father's
day event)
March 14, 2004 I am interviewed on
a National Television show called Macho Monday's with Gina
Bucci (TLN Television) Because of this interview, I had to
have an official release date for the film, so that way I
had an event to promote.
May 6, 2004 2:50 AM in the
morning-Tweaking just a few parts in the film that
nobody would even notice, but I couldn't live with myself if
I didn't.
*May 6, 2004 9:00 PM, the Official
Premier and Bloor Cinema in Toronto. It was a
fantastic screening, a huge turnout, and the audience
absolutely loved the film! All those days of hard work
we're well worth it.
